Colleen McKeever
Colleen McKeever is a Registered S2C Practitioner working with spellers to fulfill their universal right to communication. Colleen is particularly passionate about working with spellers to explore mental health topics, skills and coping strategies in one to one and group settings. She is a New York State Licensed Mental Health Counselor working full-time as the Assistant Director of Clinical Services at On Your Mark, Inc. located on Staten Island.
Colleen values an ecosystem that balances support, understanding, and compassion. She works under a person-centered framework grounded in the fundamental belief of providing a safe, judgement free space. Through her work, she has made it her mission to break the misconception that nonspeaking means nonthinking—and nonfeeling!
Colleen has six years of experience working with neurodiverse individuals. She is the chairperson on the Human Rights Committee, sits as a clinician on the Incident Review Committee, and provides a wide array of training for Direct Support Professionals. Colleen was granted the Lathrope Voorspuy Memorial Scholarship to participate in the I-ASC S2C training which has shifted her clinical practice for the better.
Colleen holds her Master’s Degree in Forensic Mental Health Counseling from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. She received her BA in Sociology at SUNY New Paltz.
Colleen enjoys spending time with a book in her hand at the beach or with her nalgene in her hand on a hike! She loves spending time with her family and is passionate about all things self-improvement and self-growth!
